Plant protein
Protein is the body's building material: it helps build and repair muscles, skin and other tissues. One teaspoon adds about 0.7 g.
We understand
Without decoding labels, without second-guessing every packet, and without turning every meal into a project. We feel the same way, which is why we started Palavi.
We use one ingredient and add nothing, so there's nothing to hide.
Every batch is tested at an independent NABL-accredited lab before we sell a single pouch.
A spoon stirs into the dal, buttermilk or chapati dough you already make.
You talk to real people on WhatsApp or phone, never a call centre.
About us
Palavi Naturals™ is a Pune-based natural foods company. For centuries, Indian families have cooked with moringa leaves; in Maharashtra we call the tree shevga. We started in 2026 with one product, because the simplest foods deserve the most care. Palavi Naturals (OPC) Private Limited is led by its founder and director, Seema: an agriculture graduate, a health enthusiast and the wife of an IITian. The company is recognised as a startup by DPIIT under Startup India.
पालवी (palavi) is Marathi for the tender new leaves a plant sends out when it begins to grow again.
An agriculture graduate and health enthusiast who believes real health begins in the soil. Seema leads everything from choosing the leaf to approving every batch for release.
Tests every batch before release, and runs our full safety panel for heavy metals, pesticides, aflatoxin and pathogens.
Packs every pouch by hand in small batches, codes it for traceability, and answers you personally on WhatsApp and phone.
Seema's husband, an IIT alumnus and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, mentors the company on quality systems and process discipline. Every batch is tried in our own kitchen first: if it isn't good enough for our home, it isn't sold.
To make clean, single-ingredient natural foods that families can trust, batch by batch.
A trusted Indian natural foods brand, known for proof rather than promises.
We exist so you eat only quality. Proof, not promises. Food, not medicine. Leaf, not filler.
It started with one question
Before Palavi had a name, Seema's husband, an IIT alumnus and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt who has spent his career on quality, asked her the question every good business must answer first. Not "what will you sell?", but "whose problem will you solve?"
"Families want protein-rich, clean food, but they can't see what's really inside the packet. I want to make one food they never have to doubt."
Seema, Founder
Why Palavi exists
Palavi began at a farmer's family table, not in a boardroom. Our founder grew up in rural Maharashtra, studied agriculture, and kept asking one question: why has the food our grandparents trusted become so hard to trust? We chose moringa because it is everything we believe food should be: rich in plant protein, clean, simple, and part of Indian kitchens for generations. We pack it in small, hygienic batches and test every one, because meaning is worth more than margin.

Our long-term vision
Palavi is a small company with a big promise. These are the goals we're building towards, and we'll report our progress here, honestly.
Partner with Maharashtra's small farmers under assured-price contracts, with training in clean harvesting and drying.
Grow a network of women entrepreneurs who sell Palavi, and create local packing and quality jobs in our community.
Moringa is drought-hardy and needs little water. We aim to source locally, move to recyclable packaging, and measure and reduce our carbon footprint.
Share what we learn about everyday nutrition with schools and community groups, starting in Pune.
Every batch tested before release, honest labels, prices that never go above MRP, and partners who take our Quality Pledge.
Inside every spoon
We add nothing. Everything below comes from the leaf itself.
Lab-measured values come from testing of our own batches. Published values describe moringa leaf in general; we haven't yet measured individual vitamins and minerals in our batches, so we don't print them on our pack. Moringa is a nourishing food, not a medicine.
On every pouch
We'd rather earn less than test less.
The Palavi Quality PledgeNutrition & batch verification
Every promise we make is one we test. That is the only way we can let you eat quality, not just read about it.

The Palavi Quality Pledge
Many food brands quietly treat quality as a cost to cut, so when margins get tight, testing is the first thing to go. We built Palavi the other way around: we exist so that you and your family eat only quality food, proven batch by batch.
That's money set aside on every single pack to pay for testing every batch at an NABL-accredited laboratory before a single pouch is sold.
Inspired by a family that believes quality should never be used as a lever for profit.

Heritage
Ask anyone who grew up in a Maharashtrian village where the shevga tree stood, and they'll point to a corner of the yard. It was the tree nobody planted on purpose and everybody used. It grew fast, needed little water, and shrugged off the summer heat.
The pods, shevgyachya shenga, went into amti and sambar, and children learned early to scrape the soft flesh off the fibrous skin with their teeth. In the monsoon, when the tree pushed out fresh leaves, those went into a quick bhaji with garlic and onion, or got kneaded into thalipeeth dough. The flowers, briefly, became a fritter.
None of this was called nutrition. It was simply what was growing. But kitchens across India had settled on something modern labs now confirm: the leaves of this tree are unusually rich in protein, calcium and iron for a green vegetable.
Sanskrit texts call the tree shigru, and list it among foods and kitchen herbs. In the south it's murungai, in the east sajna, in the north sahjan. The same tree, eaten in a dozen different ways.
As families moved to cities, the backyard tree didn't come with them. Fresh leaves are hard to find in a city market and wilt within a day. Drying and milling the leaf solves that: it turns a seasonal, fragile green into something that keeps for months in a kitchen cupboard.
That's all Palavi is, really. Not a new discovery, but a way to bring the backyard tree back into the city kitchen, carefully dried and tested.
Data
India produces more food than it ever has. Yet the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5, 2019–21) found that 67% of children aged 6 to 59 months, 59% of adolescent girls and 57% of women aged 15 to 49 are anaemic. One in four men is too.
In Maharashtra the picture moved the wrong way between surveys: anaemia among young children rose from about 54% to 69%, and among adolescent girls from about 50% to 57%.
Hidden hunger is the gap between a full stomach and a nourished body. Diets built mostly on refined rice and wheat can deliver enough energy while running short on iron, calcium, folate, vitamin A and good-quality protein. Anaemia is the most visible sign, but not the only one: NFHS-5 also found that 35.5% of children under five are stunted.
At the same time, India is living with a rapid rise in lifestyle conditions. The ICMR-INDIAB study, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology in 2023, estimated 101 million people with diabetes, 136 million with prediabetes and 315 million with high blood pressure. Doctors call this the double burden: undernutrition and diet-related disease, sometimes in the same household.
Public health experts point to the same few things again and again: diverse diets with more vegetables, pulses and greens; iron and folic acid supplementation where prescribed; deworming; and better awareness. Medical conditions need medical care.
Nutrient-dense traditional foods sit inside that first category. A spoon of moringa leaf won't fix a poor diet on its own, but it is an easy, low-cost way to add greens to food people already eat every day.

Research
We get asked about moringa and anaemia more than anything else. Rather than repeat a slogan, here is one real Indian study, read carefully.
Researchers in Chikkaballapur district, Karnataka, screened school children aged 5 to 15 and found those with anaemia. One group had about 3 g of moringa leaf powder, roughly half a teaspoon, mixed into their food every day for three months, alongside their usual school supplements. A comparison group continued with their usual meals and supplements only.
This is an encouraging result, but a small one. Fewer than 60 children completed the moringa arm, the study ran for only three months, it wasn't blinded, and haemoglobin was measured with a portable meter. The authors themselves called the improvement marginal and suggested a longer study.
Similar small trials in other countries, often using moringa tea or biscuits with adolescent girls, point in the same direction. Together they suggest that moringa can be a useful part of an iron-conscious diet. They do not show that it replaces iron supplements or medical treatment.
If you or your child has anaemia, follow your doctor's advice first. Adding green leafy foods, including moringa, alongside vitamin C sources like lemon or amla, is a sensible everyday habit. That's the claim we're comfortable making, because it's the one the evidence supports.

Myth vs fact
No study shows this. It's a marketing line that has been copied from site to site. Moringa is a nutritious food.
These comparisons usually mix fresh and dried weights, or compare 100 g of powder with 100 g of milk, which nobody eats in the same amounts. The leaf is genuinely nutrient-dense, but the multipliers are mostly arithmetic tricks.
Half to one teaspoon a day is a sensible amount. Large amounts can upset digestion. Like any concentrated green, it's a supplement to your plate, not a meal.
It isn't. Powder with ground stems is cheaper and lower in protein. Leaves dried too hot turn olive or brown and lose nutrients. Moringa trees also absorb metals from soil, so testing for lead, cadmium and arsenic matters.
Moringa may interact with some medicines, including those for diabetes, blood pressure and thyroid. If you take regular medication, check with your doctor first.
It's one of India's oldest kitchen greens. What's new is the packaging, and the testing.
Our process
When moringa branches are harvested, the leaves come attached to thin stalks and shoots. Separating them takes time and labour, so some powders simply grind everything together. It looks almost the same, and it costs less.
The difference shows up in the lab. Published analyses of moringa plant parts have found dried leaves contain roughly 260 g of crude protein per kilogram, compared with about 70 g in shoots and 60 g in stems. That's close to four times as much. A larger share of the leaf's protein is also true protein.
It's a small decision that makes a slower process. We think it's the right one.
Our process
"Lab-tested" is printed on a lot of packs. It can mean anything from one test, years ago, to a full panel on every batch. Here's what it means at Palavi.
We use an NABL-accredited laboratory, not our own claims. No batch is released for sale until its results are in, and we keep a test record against the batch code printed on every pouch.
Retailers and distributors can ask to see the test documentation for the batch they stock.
Kitchen
Moringa powder tastes green and slightly earthy, a little like spinach with a peppery edge. The trick is to put it where those flavours already belong. Half to one teaspoon a day is plenty.
Whisk ½ teaspoon into a glass of chilled buttermilk with a pinch of roasted jeera, salt and chopped coriander. The tang of the taak balances the green flavour completely.
Add 1 teaspoon to the bhajani flour for two thalipeeth, along with onion and coriander. It deepens the colour and you won't notice the taste.
Turn off the heat, then stir in ½ teaspoon just before serving. Adding it at the end keeps the colour bright and avoids long cooking.
Knead 1 teaspoon into the atta for a family meal. Good for children who won't eat their greens.
½ teaspoon in warm (not hot) water with lemon juice and a little honey or jaggery. The vitamin C from lemon is a natural partner for plant iron.
Tip: Keep the pouch sealed and away from sunlight. Light and moisture are what dull the colour over time.
World
For most of its history, moringa was a local food: eaten where it grew and rarely traded. That has changed fast. Today moringa powder sits on shelves in Europe, North America and East Asia, in teas, capsules, smoothie blends and snack bars.
India is widely described as the world's largest producer of moringa, with Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra among the major growing states. Market research firms estimate the global moringa market at several billion US dollars a year, with one 2025 estimate around USD 9 billion, though estimates vary widely between firms.
Fast-growing demand brings cheap, poorly made products: stem-heavy powders, brown overheated leaf, and no testing for metals or microbes. Export markets increasingly ask for strict limits on heavy metals and pesticide residues. That's why our full safety panel covers heavy metals and 310 pesticide residues, not just the basics.
Founder's letter
People ask me why an agriculture graduate would start a moringa brand. The truth is, I didn't begin it as a business. I began it as a wife, a daughter-in-law, and a woman who had seen up close what illness can take from a family, and what honest food might quietly give back.
Living with my family, I stopped seeing food as something we simply eat. I began to see it as something we live by. A lifetime of health is made of ordinary days, and how we care for a body, meal by meal and year by year, matters far more than we admit.
Before I started, my husband, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from IIT, asked me one question: "What problem do you want to solve?" My answer became Palavi: families deserve one protein-rich, clean food they never have to doubt. I am an agriculture graduate and a health enthusiast, and our home runs on both soil sense and data. I have always believed real health begins in the soil. So rather than searching the market for nutrition I could trust, I chose to build it, starting with moringa, one of India's most complete natural leaves, and testing every batch so that trust doesn't depend on my word alone.
I named it Palavi, the tender new leaves a plant sends out when it begins again. That is what I hope this brings to every home: a small, daily act of care.
From my family to yours. Vitality, freshly grown.
